The Knitwear Jersey explores the intersection of African cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary sportswear. Inspired by vintage athletic jerseys, the garment reimagines traditional knit construction through original Artistrybeing® artwork woven directly into the fabric, transforming the jersey into a wearable piece of visual storytelling. The jersey incorporates an embroidered face logo, woven player number, and a custom knit artwork integrated into the body of the garment.
The woven artwork draws inspiration from the Congo River Basin, one of Africa's most significant cultural and ecological landscapes. Flowing river forms move through the composition, surrounded by lush vegetation, geometric motifs, and symbolic elements that celebrate the richness of the continent's visual traditions. Within the artwork, a stylised African mask represents heritage, identity, and artistic expression, while the elephant serves as a symbol of strength, wisdom, and the enduring connection between people and nature. Together, these elements create a contemporary interpretation of African aesthetics without replicating any single cultural tradition.
Prominently displayed on the front is the woven number 54, representing the 54 internationally recognized countries across the African continent. Rather than functioning as a player number, it stands as a symbol of unity, diversity, and the shared cultural richness that continues to inspire the Artistrybeing® creative language.
